After watching the video and having fri...Well done. After watching the video and having friends of mine outright condemn Bell to heresy before even reading the book, I felt it was a must read. I bought it the first week it came out and had a very similar experience to yours. Whenever I would carry it around at school I would get people cautioning me on Bell's writing and asking whether or not it was universalistic. I would quickly turn to the first few pages where Bell lays it out plainly that only through the work of Christ can we be saved. That being said, it was not the most insightful text I have ever read, but it has its purpose. Many areas asked more questions than Bell was able to answer, but perhaps that was his intention. You said it perfectly at the end of your post; if you want to be told what to believe, Rob Bell is probably not your kind of guy. However, if you enjoy challenging your current views and learning from each other, he is an excellent resource. Glad to see someone else taking the time to understand his intentions rather than condemn.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
